This is the homepage of Robert Witten
I am a GNU/Linux enthusiast, and enjoy learning scripting and coding languages, as well as system administration and networking protocols. So far I have studied BASH, PERL, C, and some C++, and have hopes of studying these deeper, as well as learning Python, assembly (AT&T syntax), and Java. Lisp will have to wait. :)
I also support a distributive computation project, Folding@Home, where I have so far gained over 90,000 points, over 70,000 of which I have earned as a member of my current "folding family", The Outcasts.
This site will mostly be for my own use, to keep notes and things. Most of these documents will be publicly available, though, and if anyone else is helped (or entertained) by them, then that is all the better! If you want to contact me by email, you can fetch my GPG Public Key. If you do not have an email client that supports encryption, I would recommend that you upgrade, to either Mozilla Thunderbird with Enigmail, or better yet, Mutt. If you import my gnupg key, you will then have my primary email address. If you do not send encrypted email, but still wish to email me, you can, by using my alternate email address: robstr_twelve AT yahoo dot com.
While I'm on the topic of software, let me mention that if you are still using Microsoft Windows, I would like to encourage you to try an alterative operating system, GNU/Linux. Two flavors of this operating system, Ubuntu and Knoppix , can even run from a cd, live, without being installed to your harddrive. Oh, and they are freely available. Free as in beer, and FREE as in speech (you can access the source code yourself, and have TOTAL control over your computing environment). We have this opportunity largely because of the efforts of The True Leader of the Free World!.
From time to time I will write howtos, mostly for my own benefit, as notes. I may also write some for other users, from time to time, if I am asked a question that I am able to answer. :) A list of these will be kept here.
I keep a list of links to useful and/or interesting websites here.
